How you can recognise an advert

Every advert from an advertiser is marked "Sponsored". Its button is a link that is marked as sponsored. An advert is never made to look like our own content.

Which adverts are shown

• Only adverts of campaigns that were paid for, approved by the site team, started by the advertiser, and that still have paid days. A paused, ended, removed or suspended campaign is never shown.
• Only to visitors who match the places and age groups the advertiser chose. Nothing is guessed: when your place or age group is not known, you only see adverts that the advertiser allowed for that case. People who said they are under 18 never see adverts aimed at age groups.
• A page shows at most 3 adverts, and never the same advert or the same campaign twice.
• The same advert is shown to you at most 3 times in 24 hours. This is counted in your own browser; the site keeps nothing about you for it.
• Adverts take turns. A campaign that the site team gave a higher priority is shown more often.

Where adverts can appear

• Anywhere (default)

Adverts are loaded after the page is shown, so a page that was saved by a cache never shows an advert that is no longer allowed. Without JavaScript no advert is shown.
